Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases of the Second Half of 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the Broke and Bookish and hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.

We are being spoilt for choices this year. With so many incredible books set to be released in the latter half of the year, it was hard to narrow down the list to just 10. However, these books are the ones I get most excited about and each of them seems to offer a unique twist within their respective genres.

1. Into the Crooked Place by Alexandra Christo: Don’t you just love a book filled with deception? Christo has already demonstrated her skills in fantasy and I can’t wait to meet this new group of morally ambiguous characters.

2. The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White: This sounds like such an interesting twist on the Arthurian Legends, especially with the focus being on a changeling version of Guinevere. It’ll be interesting to see how this Guinevere navigates the courts of Camelot and the deceptions that follow. 

3. Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo: Any Leigh Bardugo book is guaranteed to catch my interest. The fact that this is Bardugo’s first foray into Adult fantasy has me even more excited. Bardugo is known for her intricate world building and complex characters, so I’m curious to see what sort of trouble Alex finds herself in. 

4. The Lady Rouge by Jenn Bennett: Bennett has built quite the reputation as one of the best Young Adult contemporary writers. However, this book has a particularly interesting historical setting, and the mystery within this story plus a love to hate romance means we are guaranteed to be in for quite the ride.

5. The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys: Sepetys has a reputation for shining a light on overlooked historical events. Her books always capture the emotion of those events and demonstrate humanity at its worst and best. The emphasis on photography within such a tumultuous period will undoubtedly be striking and moving. 

6. Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim: Tailoring sounds like such a dangerous occupation in this world, but this high stakes fantasy sounds like a perfect mix of lies and backstabbing with plenty of interesting characters showing their true nature along the way. 

7. By Any Means Necessary by Candice Montgomery: This is a book that is bound to pack the punches. With Torrey caught between family obligations and his own dreams, his journey is bound to be emotional and complex, which is guaranteed to leave a mark by the end. 

8. Our Year in Love and Parties by Karen Hattrup: Character-driven contemporary novels are my weakness. I adore books that focus on character development and from the sound of it, Erika and Tucker will have a lot of challenges to face before being able to reconnect. 

9. The Magnolia Sword by Sherry Thomas: Who doesn’t want to read a Mulan retelling? Retellings are fascinating because there’s always a balance between the content of the original tale and fitting them into your own narrative so the book stands as its own entity. 

10. The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern: This is undoubtedly my most anticipated release of the year! Morgenstern’s The Night Circus remians to be one of the most enchanting books I’ve ever read and when I found out she was releasing a new book in 2019 I was overjoyed. The Starless Sea is guaranteed to be a captivating and atmospheric book that will make our imaginations go wild.
