This week I am waiting on
A Conspiracy of Stars by Olivia A. Cole
Publication Date: January 2nd 2018
Goodreads Summary
Octavia has only ever had one goal: to follow in the footsteps of her parents and become a prestigious whitecoat, one of the scientists who study the natural wonders of Faloiv. The secrets of the jungle’s exotic plants and animals are protected fiercely in the labs by the Council of N’Terra, so when the rules suddenly change, allowing students inside, Octavia should be overjoyed.
But something isn’t right. The newly elected leader of the Council has some extremist views about the way he believes N’Terra should be run, and he’s influencing others to follow him. When Octavia witnesses one of the Faloii—the indigenous people of Faloiv—attacked in front of her in the dark of night, she knows the Council is hiding something. They are living in separate worlds on a shared planet, and their fragile peace may soon turn into an all-out war.
With the help of Rondo, a quiet boy in class with a skill for hacking, and her inquisitive best friend, Alma, Octavia is set on a collision course to discover the secrets behind the history she’s been taught, the science she’s lived by, and the truth about her family.
Pretty cover alert!!!
I stumbled upon this book the other week and besides the stunning book cover, the premise of this book sounds intriguing. I’ve been meaning to read more science fiction books and I’ve not read one that has placed its focus on the natural world. I’m intrigued to learn more about the world of Falovi, explore the political nature of this world and Octavia’s role in the tale.
What’s your most anticipated book?
I’m very picky about sci-fi, but this sounds so great. And that cover just catches your eye! Hopefully, the book is as interesting on the inside too.

Ohhh that cover looks SO PRETTY, I love it so much. I’m not a big sci-fi reader either, yet I’m intrigued by that one, maybe I’ll end up adding it to my TBR. Love the fact that it focuses on nature – I feel like we never read that? Or maybe it’s just me ahah 🙂

Sci-fi’s a hit or miss for me because I find that some of them can be too info dumpy and read more like a science book than a piece of fiction. However, this book is too pretty for me to avoid and I love the focus on nature, something that’s definitely under explored in fiction but so relevant to our society.
