January Wrap Up 2017

We have officially come to the end of the first month in 2017. Did I achieve any of the goals I set on New Years Eve…no. Instead I was hit by an absolutely horrible reading slump. I’m surprised I even managed to finish Stars Above. 

I did find some other hobbies to indulge in during this slump. By that I mean I basically binge watched a bunch of TV shows and films in that time. So on that front, I will say that I developed a bit of an addiction to Yuri On Ice. Now, I’ve not watched a lot of anime shows but I’d heard so much buzz about this show that I thought I should give it a shot and now I’m hooked and am basically making everyone I know watch it as well. 

Besides that, my life has basically consisted of TV shows, work and a no reading whatsoever. Sad times. Here is my monthly recap.

February Goals

As you can see, January was a slow reading month. So I’m hoping that now I’ve managed to finish a book I can get back into my reading groove. I’m currently reading Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee and so far I’m enjoying it. This month also marks the release of A Conjuring of Light, so even if I fail at reading any other book this month, I can guarantee that I’ll be speeding through that book. 

Blogging wise, I want to continue blog hopping and commenting more. I’ve decided instead of commenting daily I’ll basically do a commenting spree on select days. I also want to finally write up more discussion posts. I have idea but my brain sometimes takes a while put those thought into coherent sentences. I’m also wondering if any of guys would be interested in reading some TV/Film reviews? Since I’ve been in this slump, I’ve had plenty of time to binge watch haha.

Basically, I’m hoping to be a bit more productive in February both in the blogging world and in my life in general. Wish me luck…I think I’ll need it. In the meantime, enjoy the absolutely stunning opening titles to Yuri on Ice.

  1. The slump has hit you too?!? What is going on 😦 Whenever I pick up a book, I just think “meh, I don’t want to” these days. And that even though I have such great books ready for reading right there on my shelf. I am hoping that the buddy reads I have scheduled will help a bit. You know, because they kind of force you to read.
    Oh well, can’t complain about watching too much TV though. That is totally the life for me.

    1. Buddy reads are a great way to get out of the slump, or get you to read a book that will hopefully get you out of the slump. I’m quite happy to report that I’ve succeeded in completing a book this month but now I’m back to that stage where I’m not feeling the pull towards any book. Sad times.
      Thank heavens for TV. I’d be so bored if I didn’t have my list of shows to watch haha.

          1. That’s so great! The blogging has honestly been okay. I’ve been really happy with the changes I’ve made. But I haven’t posted chapters for Arcadia in months and it bothers me hahaha all the while I am still procrastinating and not writing.

    1. I’m making progress and have just finished a second book so hopefully that’ll kick start my reading groove again. Finding the time to actually write up the discussion posts is such a pain. If only my laptop could just type my thoughts out for me haha.

  3. I’m sorry to hear about your book slum, Lois. That does not sound like any fun at all. I hope February will be much better for you. I have been very interested in watching Yuri On Ice. All the gifs that I’ve been bombarded with on Twitter has piqued my interest and shippy feels, so I’m going to have to do that soon.

    1. It sucks but things are slowly picking up so hopefully I can read a couple more books this month. Yuri On Ice is absolutely adorable. I don’t watch a lot of anime and I was a bit skeptical about the show at first but it’s actually so cute and the shippy feels go into overdrive. I’d definitely give it a shot.

    1. Now that definitely does not sound like a fun January. There’s nothing worse than being sick.

      I’ve been feeling the urge to re-read some favourites of mine so I might give that a go and see if that helps with the slump.

      I hope February makes up for the shitty January.

  5. Oh man, what a bummer about your reading slump! Hopefully February will be a better reading month. I read a lot in January but a ton of the books I read were just “meh”, so I’m hoping I’ll have better luck this month. Yuri on Ice is such a cute show! I’ve basically never watched anime before but a friend recommended it and I think it’s really fun. The opening credits are the best part! Hahaha.

    1. February is better in terms on reading but i’m having so much technical difficulties this month. I’m laptopless as of right now ad still waiting on an update to when I can get it back. I’ve not watched many anime shows but Yuri on Ice was incredible.
