October Wrap Up 2016

Happy November everyone.

Autumn has well and truly arrived. I’ve got my layers on and seasonal coffee in hand. In September, I reached a new high and read a staggering 7 books. I was hoping to carry this momentum into October but sadly I faltered. However, the two books I did read put me in a sever book coma. I’ve not fully recovered from the trauma but I insist that anyone that hasn’t picked up these book do so now so you can feel my pain. 

I’m still trying to catch up with my reviews for the books I read in September but I can guarantee a review of both of these books will be up when I escape this book coma.

November To Be Read List

As always, I have no set tbr list. However, I am excited to start my buddy read of Blood for Blood with Summer. I can see that book inducing another book coma. I’m also in the mood to re-read Finnikin of the Rock and pick up some more sports contemporary books. Basically I’m just going with the flow.

In non-bookish news, I am seriously getting into that festive spirit. I am so excited for Christmas this year and I am hoping we get a good heap of snow soon. This is my favourite time of year. It’s a lot colder here but when you’ve got the fire going, a cup of tea in hand and a good book in the other, you can’t help but feel all warm and cosy. 

I also have a lot of TV shows that I need to finish. I started watching Stranger Things and really enjoyed what I’ve seen so far. I’ve still not caught up with season 2 of Mr. Robot. I’m a season behind on The Walking Dead and now that I know who gets the cut I don’t know if I’ll be able to stomach it. On top of that, I’m told I need to start watching Westworld. The only TV show I’ve actually finished is the second season of Poldark, which had me on one hell of an emotional roller-coaster. 

I’m also a lot more invested in ice hockey than I though I would be. I’m seriously hooked and I am sacrificing a lot of sleep to watch these NHL games but I can’t find it in me to care. It’s such a fun and intense game to follow and I’m finding I have to restrain myself from yelling at the screen so I don’t wake up the rest of the household. 😛

October was a slow reading month for me.

  2. Ahh October seemed to be such a bad reading month for most of us! I also read way less than I usually do but your read this month are both amazing ❤ I still haven't completely moved on from Crooked Kingdom and I may or may not plan to reread it soon 😛 I hope November would be a better month for you and thank you so much for sharing my post! 😀

    1. The fact that both books were amazing does make me feel a lot better about the lack of reading. Quality over quantity is key haha. I’ve been re-reading my favourite moments from Crooked Kingdom and I don’t think I’ll even tire of these characters, although my heart is still in mourning. Hope you have a lovely November. 😀

  3. I think our Blood for Blood buddy read is going to be awesome and might be the book to help us recover from CK. Or maybe it’ll just extend the book hangover, lol. Either way I’m so excited! I hope to get more Felix because I really liked him.

    Haha, well speaking of ice hockey and winter sports, watch Yuri on Ice with me! 😉

    I’ve also been on a festive mood as well. I Christmas shop year round (and leave everything in my closet), but I’ve been enjoying all the pretty wrapping paper and bows that are on the shelves. Not to mention all the Xmas decorations and trees. This is my favorite time of year! XD

      Yes. I’m all for watching Yuri on Ice. If I wasn’t so clumsy I’d love to take up ice skating haha.

      It’s the best time of year. It’s just so wonderful and festive and if I can get a heap of snow I will be even happier. I’m also quite proud of my level of organisation this year. I’ve already sorted out my parents gifts, now it’s just a matter of buying them haha.

    1. I think I’ve made it to episode 5 so I’m in the home stretch. I’m terrible at abandoning series in the middle. I get so distracted by everything else I need to do/watch that I just forget haha.

  6. Glad to see that you enjoyed Nevernight! And I still haven’t read SoC or the Grisha, oops. I’m currently reading Blood for Blood with Sara too, so hope you enjoy Blood for Blood.

    I’m so jealous that you get snow for Christmas. It’s going to be SUPER HOT here and I’ll likely be barbecuing or something on the day.

    1. The footnotes droned on a bit but when it came to the actual story it was a hit. I’ve not read the Grisha trilogy but Six of Crows has my heart. I think Blood for Blood will induce another book coma soon.

      I always forget that it’s summer in Australia. That would mess me up big time but at least I’d get a tan haha.

      1. I actually skipped all the footnotes, I just can’t be bothered. Maybe if/when I reread it eventually I’ll do a more full read.

        It’s TOO HOT to get a tan! Or I dunno. I love sunlight but I wouldn’t want to tan bc it’s too hot. 😂
