A big Thank you to the wonderful Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse for the tag. Be sure to check out her wonderful blog.

1. An Over-Hyped Book:

Situation: You’re in a store when the zombie apocalypse hits. The military informs everyone that over-hyped books are the zombies only weakness. What book that everyone else says is amazing but you disliked do you start chucking at the zombies?

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher: I had seen nothing but glowing reviews for this book but when I actually cracked open the book I was stumped. I mean I can understand why people like it but to me it just didn’t work or have the impact I thought it would have.

2. A Sequel:

Situation: torrential downpour. What sequel are you willing to use as an umbrella to protect yourself?

Allegiant by Veronica Roth: I actually understood why a certain character death had to happen and that’s not my gripe with the book. I just felt like I was reading a completely different series and we’re introduced to an entire new “branch” of this world that had not been mentioned prior to the book and it felt like the development and the cause of tension in the first two books amounted to nothing in the end.

3. A Classic:

Situation: You’re in English class and your professor raves about a Classic that “transcends time”. If given the opportunity to travel back in time, which Classic would you try to stop from ever publishing?

Chaucer – The Wife of Bath. Even though this is part of the wider collection known as the Canterbury Tales, I only studied this one in school and I honestly couldn’t tell you what happened. My mind zoned out during these lessons because I just couldn’t get in to it.

4. A Least Favorite Book:

Situation: apparently global warming = suddenly frozen wasteland. Your only hope of survival for warmth is to burn a book. Which book will you not regret lighting?

  1. Lol, I kind of sheepishly have to admit that I didn’t exactly hate Twilight (but in my defense I read it as a preteenager and my opinion may change if I read it now). 😄 And, oh my gosh, I’m so surprised with your answer using Thirteen Reasons Why! Even the critics’ remarks are pretty positive for that one. I actually remember it always being featured on the teen shelf in my local library. I never picked it up though. 😅

    • My 13 year old self semi-enjoyed them but I read them more because all of my friends had and I wanted to see what the hype was all about haha.
I think if I’d have read it when I was in my early teams I might not have had such a negative reaction but I just remember feeling very cold when I finished it. It didn’t make me feel anything at all.

      • Same, all of my friends were reading it-even the ones that didn’t like reading. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t have picked them up… but then that made me get into the paranormal genre and books with vampires (I’m pretty sure I’ve read or tried almost all the YA vampire series of that time). 😂

  2. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Allegiant either, so I’m glad I’m not alone in that. And I was pretty meh about 13 Reasons Why as well. It was a decent book, but I don’t quite understand why it’s so hyped. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous answers! ❤
