Top Ten Tuesday: Non-Bookish Websites I Frequent

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.

Admittedly books have a habit of consuming my life. To a lot of people in my life it seems like all I do is read about books, talk about books and write about books. However, there are moments where I dare to venture into non-bookish territory. Here are a list of sites that I frequent for non-bookish purposes.

1. Pinterest

Now I do use this site for bookish purposes but the main reason I frequent Pinterest is for the travel and fashion ideas. I just love that Pinterest essentially clumps together all of these different sources so I don’t end up endlessly browsing for ages on various tabs.

If you fancy taking a peek at my page you can find it here.

2. Buzzfeed

During my time at university I spent a lot of time procrastinating on this site. So when I was meant to be writing my essay I was actually taking all the quizzes on buzzfeed. I also feel like this site embraces the fangirl mentality.

Plus this post on things that annoy the Welsh had me chuckling. Number 3 and 5 on list is me. 😛

3. AV Club

When I’m not reading, I’m usually watching TV and I love reading the AV Club’s in depth reviews on the shows I watch. They literally dissect every single moment and highlights some points I may not have considered about the character/plot.

4. Tumblr

Tumblr does have a significantly large bookish community. However, if you were to ever come across my tumblr , you’ll notice that the majority of my posts are either of pretty pictures, childhood throwbacks and complete randomness. I also refer to tumblr as gif galore. Thank heavens for tumblr gifs.

5. Entertainment Weekly

This is basically my go-to for site for all the happenings in the entertainment industry. Now, I could care less about who’s dating who and what I like about EW is that when they interview the actor/writer/producer, more often than not they actually focus on their craft instead of the petty gossip circulating.

6. Stylefruits

I don’t follow a lot of fashion sites but I do stumble onto this page every now and then. I just like that you can piece together an entire outfit.

7. Polyvore

Again, this site is basically my style inspiration. I like piecing together an outfit and it saves me from opening a never ending stream of tabs to find one top.

8. Humans of New York

I follow their instagram page more than I do the website but I absolutely love reading the stories they post there. I think what I enjoy the most about it is that these are not the stories of the A-List elites but they’re the stories of your everyday man and it just highlights the struggles, hopes and desires of these people and once in a while you stumble across a story that resonates with you and I think that is amazing.

9. Beautiful Destinations

This page basically makes my wanderlust go wild.

10. Youtube

The ultimate procrastination site. So many videos, so many laughs. It’s an easy way to waste away the day.

Those are the non-bookish sites I frequent the most.
Which non-bookish sites do you visit?

    1. EW is definitely my go-to for my Entertainment Fix and I love reading the interviews they conduct because they like to talk about the nitty gritty details of the shows/films.

    1. EW is undoubtedly my go-to for my entertainment fix. Once you start on the buzzfeed train you literally cannot stop. I spent hours taking their quizzes when I should have been doing my work haha.

  1. I looove Pinterest for all the food/fashion ideas! I used to use it for work, too, which was just awesome because it’s fun and I got paid for it, haha. And HONY is just absoutely amazing, it’s pretty much the only reason why I open Facebook. ❤

    1. Damn. Getting paid to browse pinterest is my kind of job haha. I could waste away a day on that site.
Ah facebook. The only reason I still have my account is so I can talk to my friends that are oversea haha.

      1. haha honestly if you hadn’t pointed it out I never would have noticed the missing words. 😛 Humans of New York is definitely one of my favourite sites and I love how they use their platform to raise awareness of so many issues.

  2. The AV club is awesome!! Also, I spend way too much time browsing through Pinterest. I actually ended up not going on for a while because I forgot my password and was too lazy to reset it, haha. But I just got back on and I was instantly questioning how I was off of it for so long! It’s just a fun way to kill some time. Plus I love finding new recipes on there!

    1. I am terrible at forgetting the passwords to all my social media sites. They all end up being jumbled in one haha. I was a bit dubious of the site first but once I figured out how it works I was and still am hooked.

  3. I know I am not the only one when I say that I could spend HOURS on tumblr basically scrolling down until my laptop explodes and I need to shut it down because, well, gifs. The life of the procrastinator would not be the same without this website.

    Great selection 🙂

    1. Tumblr is the reason I lost so much sleep during university. Forget going out, I was basically spending the night, in bed browsing tumblr. I saved a lot of money on those night haha.
