Nemesis by Anna Banks

Goodreads Summary
The princess didn’t expect to fall in love–with her nemesis.

Princess Sepora of Serubel is the last Forger in all the five kingdoms. The spectorium she creates provides energy for all, but now her father has found a way to weaponize it, and his intentions to incite war force her to flee from his grasp. She escapes across enemy lines into the kingdom of Theoria, but her plans to hide are thwarted when she is captured and placed in the young king’s servitude.

Tarik has just taken over rulership of Theoria, and must now face a new plague sweeping through his kingdom and killing his citizens. The last thing he needs is a troublesome servant vying for his attention. But mistress Sepora will not be ignored. When the two finally meet face-to-face, they form an unlikely bond that complicates life in ways neither of them could have imagined.

Sepora’s gift could save Tarik’s kingdom from the Quiet Plague. But should she trust her growing feelings for her nemesis, or should she hide her gifts at all costs?

The dynamic between Speora and her dad sounds complicated and manipulative and so I’d quite like to see what their relationship is like. Tarik also sounds like a really interesting character especially as he’s only just taken over rulership of his land. Plus you’ve got the question of political/territorial wars and how Sepora and Tarik maneuver themselves around these political situations. I feel like the question of trust will be a focal point in the book. Plus I’m a sucker for a forbidden romance.

What’s your most anticipated book?

    1. The cover is very gripping. I was surprised at how drawn I was to it. I have high hopes for this book and based on the synopsis it has the potential to be a huge hit. Only time will tell I guess haha. 😛

  1. Sigh, can you please stop sharing such AWESOME books for these Wednesday posts? 😛 Just kidding, but I swear you always make my TBR pile grow because of these posts. I didn’t even realize Anna Banks was releasing this but it sounds really different from her usual work. I really love books like Nemesis’s premise, but the cover is a little creepy. As for my highly anticipated book, it’d be The Winner’s Kiss, of course! And technically Lady Midnight; Goodreads says I’m “currently reading” it but I haven’t read but a couple of pages. I need start really reading it soon! 😀

    1. haha sorry no can do. This is my revenge for all the book you’ve made me add to my never ending tbr pile 😛
I’ve never read and Anna Banks book but the cover, whilst being a bit creepy, is also very striking and in a way imposing so I had to see what it was about.
The Winner’s Kiss. I am so happy that book is out so I can finally binge read the series. My main dilemma now is deciding on whether or not to get the US hardback or UK paperback versions of the books.
I’ve been on the fence about Lady Midnight because I’m told spoilers from the Infernal Devices are included and I’ve not read that series yet. Plus all these new shadowhunter novels seem a bit too much for me. There’s only so much I can take. However, I am told that the Lady Midnight is a good read so I might give it a chance in the future.
